Since 2022, Shiwang Village has been using fully biodegradable plastic film, which is tailor-made for rice. The main components of this fully biodegradable film are polylactic acid (PLA) and polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT). In the later stage of crop growth, it is degraded by bacteria and fungal microorganisms in the soil into water, carbon dioxide, and a small amount of biomass. By the time the rice is harvested, the plastic film is almost completely degraded, ensuring rice growth and not polluting the environment.
