Recently, over 2,000 mu of chive and potato (commonly known as "foreign ginger") in the 162nd Regiment of the 9th Division of the Border Guard Corps in China and Kazakhstan have achieved a bumper harvest. Harvesting machines are operating efficiently in the fields, with an average yield of 3.5 to 4 tons per mu. This fruitful outcome has laid a solid foundation for industrial development. Against this backdrop, Xinjiang Huaxia Dadi New Materials Group, together with its subsidiary Baiyang City Huaxia Dadi Biotechnology Co., Ltd., officially announced the promotion of the chive and potato full-chain project. This marks that the group's industrial layout in the 9th Division of Tacheng has entered a substantive stage.
The unique border climate and soil conditions of the 9th Division of the Corps provide natural advantages for the cultivation of chive tubers. As a characteristic crop with both ecological and economic value, the entire plant of chive tubers is highly valuable: the tubers can be processed into pickles, dried chive tubers, and other foods, and further processing can extract high-end components such as chia powder and low-fiber oligosaccharides; the stems and leaves are high-quality feed raw materials for livestock and poultry. This layout by the group is based on the regional resource endowment and precisely grasps the support orientation for the entire chain of characteristic crops in the agricultural development and benefit promotion policies of the Corps in 2025. It aims to fully activate the industrial value of this border agricultural product.
The project aims to maximize the total value of the dahlia plant. The company's biotechnology subsidiary will be the implementation entity, focusing on two key areas. The first is the dahlia slice drying project, which addresses the storage and transportation problems of fresh dahlia. It uses medium-low temperature vacuum drying technology to produce B-end food raw materials and C-end "high-fiber, zero-additive" ready-to-eat slices, achieving standardized mass production. The second is the yam stem feed project. The planting by-products, the stems, are processed through silage and hay techniques into high-quality feed, which can replace 15%-20% of concentrated feed and align with the policy orientation of "utilization of straw resources".
To build a complete industrial ecosystem, the group will integrate the advantages of the entire chain of research and development, production and marketing: at the planting end, it adopts the model of "enterprise + cooperative + farmer", providing high-quality seeds and technical support to the military farms, connecting with the agricultural machinery subsidy of the兵团 to enhance the level of mechanization， and driving the income growth of the workers； at the processing end， it builds modern bases， strictly implementing food hygiene standards， and at the same time collaborates with research institutions to tackle advanced processing technologies.
The group's responsible person stated that the natural endowment of the ninth military region， the policy support of the兵团， and the improvement of infrastructure have provided multiple guarantees for the project. As an important carrier for the group to practice the values of "nature， technology， and health"， the project will promote the green transformation of agriculture with the model of "saline-alkali land improvement + by-product recycling"， deeply integrate into the rural revitalization strategy of the兵团， turn the "dirt balls" at the border into "gold balls"， and contribute to agricultural modernization and the prosperity of the border region.
At present， the project's preliminary preparations are complete， and the signing of planting cooperation， base planning and other work are advancing in an orderly manner. After the project is implemented， it is expected to create 1，000 jobs， significantly increase the output value of the chive root industry， and fully build a national chive root industry demonstration benchmark， laying a solid foundation for the development of the group's agricultural science and technology sector.
