Many synthetic fabrics and common plastic products people wear and come into contact with daily are actually silently releasing microplastics, acting like invisible "microscopic blades" that continuously threaten health. Recent authoritative studies have confirmed that microplastics can infiltrate multiple human organs, gradually promoting inflammation and increasing the risk of tumor development and recurrence. Polylactic acid (PLA) fiber fabrics and PLA clothing offer an effective solution to reduce microplastic intake at the source of wear, helping to safeguard health. 

Recently, research teams from several universities in China have released significant findings confirming the dangers of microplastics to human health: microplastic particles were detected in over half of intestinal tumor samples. These particles, with sharp edges and irregular shapes, continuously scratch intestinal tissue, significantly increasing the likelihood of cancer recurrence. Meanwhile, micro- and nano-plastics have been widely found in the human brain, with notably higher concentrations around brain tumors. Once the blood-brain barrier is compromised, plastic particles can continue penetrating deeper into the brain. 

Common synthetic fiber clothing, plastic accessories, and synthetic fabrics we encounter daily are significant sources of microplastics in the human body. Traditional petroleum-based synthetic fabrics are essentially made of polymer plastics, which continuously shed tiny plastic fibers during wear, washing, and sun exposure. Most of these microfibers are smaller than 100 micrometers, easily penetrating the skin barrier, respiratory tract, and intestinal lining to enter internal tissues, where they interact with the tumor microenvironment and exacerbate health risks. 

According to research published in Molecular Cancer by a team including Xiangya Second Hospital of Central South University, microplastics act as cancer-promoting accomplices, progressively increasing health risks through just four steps—each involving microplastic fibers shed from conventional synthetic fiber clothing. Step 1: Cellular invasion and metabolic resistance. Microplastic fibers and nanoscale plastic particles from synthetic fabrics are extremely small, enabling them to penetrate human cells directly and evade normal metabolic elimination. Long-term accumulation disrupts cellular activity, enhancing the migration and metastatic potential of abnormal cells. Step 2: Inducing oxidative stress and DNA damage. Retained plastic microfibers trigger cellular oxidative stress, akin to continuous "rusting" of cells, directly damaging DNA structure and significantly increasing the likelihood of genetic mutations, thereby laying the groundwork for cellular carcinogenesis. Step 3: Triggering persistent chronic inflammation. The immune system identifies foreign plastic microfibers as harmful substances and continuously attacks them; however, since plastics cannot be degraded or cleared, this leads to prolonged chronic inflammation. Inflammatory mediators released during this process accelerate the proliferation and spread of abnormal cells. Step 4: Disrupting endocrine function and amplifying disease risk. Traditional synthetic fabrics and plastic products often contain additives such as plasticizers and stabilizers during manufacturing. These substances are endocrine disruptors that interfere with hormonal balance, further elevating the risk of various diseases and cancers. 

Simply put, microplastics do not directly cause cancer, but they continuously create an internal environment conducive to disease development. Clothing worn close to the body is one of the most frequent sources of daily microplastic exposure. To cut off this source at the wearable level, replacing conventional fabrics with polylactic acid (PLA) fibers and PLA garments offers a safe and practical solution. 

Polylactic acid fabric is made from fermented natural plant-based materials, making it a biodegradable eco-friendly fiber that differs fundamentally from petroleum-based synthetic fibers and conventional plastics.
