The trade of bio-based materials is booming: Who is seizing the alternative market worth hundreds of billions?

On the packaging bag of a cup of milk tea, the "biodegradable" label is becoming the new code in global trade.

The current development status of bio-based chemical fibers: total output is nearly 500,000 tons.

During the 500 years of industrial civilization, the utilization of fossil resources has greatly promoted the technological progress of human civilization, but it has also caused severe damage to the Earth's ecology.

Fully biodegradable mulching film enables a win-win situation for environmental protection and increased production.

To address the pollution caused by traditional plastic mulch, the state has introduced a series of policies to encourage and support the application of fully biodegradable mulch. The use of fully biodegradable mulch helps enhance soil vitality, achieve sustainable land use, and contribute to the green development of agriculture and the construction of a prosperous countryside.

It was first discovered that polylactic acid (PLA) can degrade under mild conditions at 37℃.

Amid the rampant plastic waste, although the biodegradable plastic poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is highly anticipated, it is confronted with the problems of slow industrial composting degradation and difficult monomer recovery. Recently, a study by the Italian Institute of Technology found that the lipase secreted by Aspergillus oryzae can efficiently decompose PLA materials under mild conditions, providing a green new solution to the problems of PLA degradation and lactic acid recovery.

The United Nations has called for an end to plastic pollution.

According to a report on the website of Spain's La Vanguardia on June 4th, it seems that we are addicted to plastic. Humans produce over 430 million tons of plastic every year. Plastic is everywhere in our lives and poses a major problem for the environment and human health. Scientists have proved that we are eating and breathing plastic.
