According to CCTV News, today (the 6th) afternoon, the State Council Information Office held a press conference. A relevant official from the Ministry of Commerce stated that multiple measures will be taken to promote plastic pollution control and continuously promote green consumption.
Li Jialu, the director of the Commerce Ministry's Department of Commerce Industry Development, introduced that in the area of plastic pollution control, the ministry has established a reporting system for disposable plastic products, regularly organizing localities to report the usage and recycling situation of plastic products on time. The data monitored by the ministry shows that the usage of environmentally friendly substitutes increased by 26.31% compared with the previous period in the first half of 2025.
At the same time, we should promote the use of bamboo instead of plastic, and actively cultivate the green consumption market for bamboo products. We should promote green catering and encourage the reduction of the use of disposable plastic products and packaging materials in the catering industry. We should clearly define the relevant requirements for prohibiting and restricting the use of plastic in the catering sector.
Li Jialu stated that in the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will continue to strengthen the management of reports on disposable plastic products, increase the promotion of green alternative products such as degradable and bamboo-based plastics, and deepen the plastic reduction efforts in key sectors such as catering, in order to contribute to promoting green consumption and building a beautiful China.
