The new national standard "Biodegradable Plastic Shopping Bags" (GB/T 38082-2025) will be officially implemented on January 1, 2027. The core upgrades include standardized labeling, an increase in the degradation rate to 90%, clear definition of the degradation period, and enhanced durability, aiming to solve the problem of consumer identification and improve environmental protection efficiency.
Standardization of Identifiers
New unified logo design and textual descriptions have been added. Mandatory labeling of components, degradation conditions (such as industrial composting/soil/ocean), performance requirements and shelf life must be provided to prevent the misleading of consumers by "pseudo-degradable" products.
2. Improved degradation performance (details can be seen in the video above)
The degradation rate has increased from 60% to 90%, and the upper limit of the cycle has been set for different scenarios:
Industrial composting environment: ≤ 180 days (degradation rate ≥ 90%).
Soil/Ocean Environment: ≤ 2 years (degradation rate ≥ 90%).
3. Enhanced Durability
Through 1800 lifting tests simulating daily usage, it ensures no damage under the load vibration, while also balancing "easy degradability" and "high strength".
4. Flexible storage period
Remove the mandatory requirement of "at least one year", and instead, producers should clearly indicate the storage period (half a year/one year/one and a half years) as needed, to meet the requirements of different scenarios.
